Piazza Vecchia

Posted by
L'explorateur (Vancouver, Canada) on 15 March 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

The last image of this series on Bergamo, my home town in the North of Italy.
I loved walking again among my people. Along those beautiful streets. Full of history and personal memories.

The heart of Bergamo’s upper town is Piazza Vecchia (old square). Many old historic building are within a few steps here! Among others, the tower on the right is called Il Campanone. Even nowadays, every day at 10pm you can hear a 100 strokes coming from Il Campanone. These 100 strokes were the signal for the daily closing of the city walls during the Venetian domination.

Taken on Feb 22, 2011, in Bergamo, Italy.
Scattata il 22 Febbraio 2011, a Bergamo.

@tataray: Oui, légèrement. C'est vrai. The reason is that I took this picture from the balcony of a very old building. It's usually not possible to get that view, but I kindly asked and the (very polite, actually!) answer was: "I'll open the window for you. BUT BE VERY VERY QUICK!" AH AH No time for thinking AH AH
